Approach

I rely on integrative and evidence based clinical approaches with strength based, solution focused strategies. My training and clinical emphasis in our work together has a child centered and family systems focus that guides assessment and treatment

About

Post Graduate Education

George Peabody College of Vanderbilt University – Ph.D. in Clinical Psychology
Four years of coursework in graduate school after college that included theory and practice of diagnostic testing and psychotherapy, and independent research for a thesis and a dissertation. My research areas were in childhood chronic illness and the impact of family moves on adjustment in childhood. My specialty areas in training were child, adolescent, adult and family systems work, with a subspecialty in neuropsychology.

University of Tennessee, Memphis Consortium
Predoctoral clinical internship that included inpatient and outpatient evaluations and treatment, emergency room psychiatric evaluations, day treatment, and neuropsychological testing.

University of Maryland Medical Center, Baltimore
Postdoctoral fellowship in pediatric psychology focusing on the diagnostic evaluation of infants, toddlers and children, including those with acute and chronic medical conditions. I served as the psychologist member of both the Neonatal Intensive Care Unit follow-up team and the mobile multidisciplinary evaluation team that conducted evaluations in areas across the State of Maryland that are underserved by pediatric developmental and mental health services.

Licensure

Licensed Psychologist in Maryland since 1991

Work Experience

I worked as a clinical psychologist in a specialized family systems oriented department within the Community Mental Health Center at the Carroll County Health Department (1991 to 1997). I have worked in private practice in the Towson/Lutherville area from 1997 up until the current time, relocating my practice to The Exchange building in Towson in January of 2020.

I share Suite 100 with Barbara Kim M.D., April Moran LCSW-C, Amanda Sun, M.D and Robin Richardson, LCSW-C. All of us are independently practicing licensed clinicians who share office space and a dedication to evidence based clinical work in a collaborative setting. We maintain appointment schedules and clinical records that are entirely separate.

Outside the Office

After completing graduate school in Tennessee, my husband and I came to Baltimore to complete advanced training in our fields. We liked the area so much that we made it our permanent home! I am the parent of 2 girls, ages 22 and 27. I’ve been actively involved in my community over the last 26 years and an active volunteer within my neighborhood, local schools, and recreation league programs since my daughters were old enough to participate. I especially enjoyed serving as the commissioner of the girls basketball recreation league program in my community for many years.
