FAQs

How do I make an appointment?

The first step is a brief initial phone consultation for me to learn more and address any questions that you might have so we can determine if scheduling an appointment with me is the best next step. Send an email or leave a voice mail message. Include some time blocks when you can accept a return call.

Before your appointment: Complete and return the new patient forms in advance of the appointment. They can be found on the website under the heading Forms. Bring along copies of any previous evaluations that are relevant to your concerns. If you plan to submit bills to your insurance company for reimbursement, contact your company before the first visit using the number on the back of your card.

Do you accept insurance?

I am an out of network provider for all insurance plans. That means that I don’t accept your insurance directly. Patients and parents pay the office directly at the time of service. I provide a super bill/receipt for you to submit to your insurance company for reimbursement of the portion of the charge. Some insurance companies will reimburse you or not reimburse at all depending on whether you see a provider with whom they have a contract, called an in network provider, versus an out of network provider. I will complete forms your company needs to arrange reimbursement if you provide the forms.

Please check your coverage by calling your insurance company and be sure that you understand this coverage before the first appointment.

Will psychological testing authorize my child to have accommodations for standardized testing?

The results and recommendations from psychological testing are driven by the test data and specific and reliable evidence that difficulties with memory, focus, mood or learning have a significant functional impact on the student’s ability to work up to their potential. My reports include recommendations for testing accommodations, instructional strategies and other interventions when appropriate within the context of the results. The standardized testing companies will review the testing report and written learning plans in place at school.

While I stay up to date on the rules for approval of accommodations for standardized testing and the types of test instruments to be administered for consideration of accommodations, I do not have any special powers, however, to obtain or guarantee approval for accommodations for standardized or school testing.
